Alien Costume Detail

The Alien head was made with chicken wire and paper mache, all built on top of a bike helmet.  The drool is hot glue.  The skeleton is constructed from foam, both shapes cut from thick upholstery foam and the foam that is used to insulate pipes.  All the foam was coated with Sculpt Or Coat (from www.rosebrand.com)before painting.  I made the tail by threading the foam “vertebrae” on to a heavy wire. The tip of the tail was supported by fishing line and was part of a harness that went under the “rib” vest.  Claws were glued to gloves and old shoes.  This costume takes quite a while to get into, but once you’re crouched in a dark corner of the party, it becomes REALLY scary…
