Blood Red Dress Costume Detail

From the SideThe dress in the picture was made very quickly for an unexpected event.  I used inexpensive Christmas cotton fabric, with a bit of gold metallic swirl to it, for the underdress and upper sleeves. Close up of sleeve fabric The lower sleeves are large circles of red acetate velvet.  The overdress is a simple jumper style dress, trimmed at the neck with bias binding made from the underdress material.  I added in a fishtail segment to the center back of the overdress, to give it a bit more fullness, and added ribbon ties at the waist to cinch it in a bit in back.  I trimmed the underdress neckline and the sleeve junction with 2” wide antique gold trim from JoAnn Fabrics.

More detailed pictures have surfaced since I made this version, and I would be delighted to make something more accurate for you, if you so choose.
