Fairy Costume Detail
The Fairy Elf costume was loosely based on a pattern from a doll making class I took. I just thought it was too cute to leave to the dolls, so I made one for myself! The bodice and underskirt are fitted, with strips of many types of fabric hot-glued to the underskirt. I used up much of my grandmother's polyester remnants and several Value Village sheets and nightgowns to get the effect.
The wings were made from 5 layers of sheer and metallic fabrics, wired on the edges and attached to the bodice. Sparkly makeup, flowered shoes, a wand (of course), a bird on my shoulder and pointy elf ears made the transformation complete.
