The pants are made from lightweight black microsuede.  The shirt was made from a metallic silver silk, which originally had plastic pearls sewn at each diamond intersection.  

I smashed off the pearls with a rubber mallet – quite a stress reliever!  The material is $45 per yard, so this version of the shirt only goes to hip level.  If you would like it to be full length as it is in the movie version, keep the cost of materials in mind.  The shirt has a stand up collar and snaps up the side.  The velvet tunic is made from dark grey stretch velvet – or can be constructed from non-stretch if desired.  The yoke is machine embroidered with metallic silver thread and is edged with silver piping.

The center front closure can be buttons, hooks and eyes, snaps or a zipper:  whichever you prefer. 

This version has snaps under the center front placket, and buttons sewn over to simulate a button front.
